Psychoacoustic Perception of Equal Instrumental Chords Distributed Differently in Stereo

This thesis deals with psychoacoustic perception of equally instrumented chords distributed differently in stereo. Also this thesis deals with psychoacoustic perception of unequally instrumented chords distributed differently in stereo. The thesis shows what is psychoacoustic perception, according to what is sound color determined, how does masking work between sounds and for people. Next, it shows examined chords which were differently distributed in stereo. These chords were listened by 72 listeners. They did, according to given scale, evaluate intelligibility of instruments within the chord where every individual tone was played by different instrument. The instruments were categorized into three categories according to their creating higher harmonic components. Also, the listeners evaluated intelligibility of the chords. The data were evaluated with help of psychoacoustic method called semantic differential and the results were set
