When plants are attacked by pathogenic fungi, plants defend themselves by chewing the fungal cell wall. Chitin, a main component of the fungal cell wall, is released and recognized by the plant cells to activate the innate immune response in the whole plant. The objective of this study is to investigate the cellular localization of the proteins encoded by two chitin-induced genes, Annexin 1 (ANN1) and SNAP33, from the genetic model Arabidopsis thaliana.
