The Scotland District of Barbados has experienced severe landslip problems following land use changes over the past 30 years. A field survey in an area prone to landslips investigated residents' perception of environmental hazards in the area, and opinions on the measures adopted to control landslips and the relocation policy. This was put in the wider context of environmental problems in Barbados by a survey of residents of the west coast on perception of environmental hazards, and government intervention both on the coast and in the Scotland District
