This dissertation is a collection of related papers anchored by a narrative inquiry with three former teacher educators in the field. The work explores and maps the educators’ career trajectories within, and across their stories of experience. All participants resigned from their posts in public education within the three years preceding the interviews and exited the field from a public school system in one of the most diverse urban metroplex areas in the United States. The collected ‘stories to leave by’ reveal resonances rooted in the areas of place, community, and identity.
