Low cost domestic building of warm humid climate depends very much on natural ventilation, and thus large openings. However, since adjacent street transforms into potential noise source, the openings will be critical points for noise intrusion. Opening design strategies is then of importance to adopt. Prior to this investigation, a computational simulation has been carried out to calculate ventilation rates within building to meet airflow requirement, which shows that there are three type of windows suitable to be employed. These windows, i.e. casement, top-hung and jalousie, were then to be examined of doing task in reducing noise ingress.
