Fall Career Fair on Tuesday

Update your resumes and start ironing your dress shirts, the Fall Career Fair is here. Held at the UND Wellness center on Tuesday, October 4 starting at 11 a.m, the fair will feature dozens of potential employers from around the region and around the nation. Briefly: Career Fair: Tuesday October 4, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Bring your student ID Bring copies of your resume Dress to impress We have over 90 employers coming next week, said Career Services Director Mark Thompson. This fair is looking to be the largest since the downturn of the economy in 2008. Companies ranging from airlines to hospitals will be in attendance and will be looking for workers from many disciplines. Each company will have its own booth located in the multi-purpose gym of the wellness center. Students should come dressed to impress, said Thompson. They should have a plan in advance for what companies they want to visit. Doors open at 11 a.m and each student will be admitted by swiping his/her student ID and wearing a name tag. A map that describes the location of each company will be provided. The sooner that (students) come the better, Thompson said. We want students to come early and come often in order to network with as many companies as they can. Many companies will also be offering internships to younger students. Freshmen and sophomores should attend the fair alongside their upperclassmen counterparts in order to get a feel for the job market after they leave UND, said Thompson. Nervous about meeting potential employers? An ice-breaker party will be held the day before (Monday, October 3rd) at 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Career Services in McCannel Hall. Students will have the opportunity to meet employers in an informal setting, and ask questions about interview etiquette, dress and tips for success. Come to the fair with the right attitude, Thopmson said. Be ready to answer any questions the company might have for you. It\u27s a good idea to research the company beforehand so you can get and idea of what to expect. Students should have a resume on hand to give to potential employers, but shouldn\u27t avoid the fair if they don\u27t have one ready. One key tip for success: follow up. Get a business card from anyone you talk to, said Thompson. That way you can follow up after you\u27ve completed an online application or any task the company requires
