Joshua Fershee Appointed Law School Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research

Associate Professor of Law Joshua P. Fershee has been appointed Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research for the University of North Dakota School of Law. His appointment began in August, coinciding with the beginning of the new academic year. “I look forward to this new opportunity as I continue in my role as legal educator first and foremost,” said Fershee. “This new role gives me the opportunity to help develop the vision and educational goals of the School of Law’s academic program to enhance the education of our students.” In his role as Associate Dean, Fershee’s responsibilities will include enhancement of special academic programs, including our joint degree and certificate programs; facilitation of curricular development; facilitation and expansion of faculty professional development programs and faculty support for teaching, research and scholarship, and service; and duties as a senior administrator within the School of Law. Dean Kathryn Rand said, “Josh has an outstanding record of teaching, research, and service as a faculty member. His talents and abilities will mesh with those of our administrative team to facilitate many future successes for our educational program and our students. I am delighted Josh has agreed to join our administrative team while continuing his active role as a member of our faculty.” Fershee joined the UND Law School faculty in 2007. He teaches Business Associations I & II, Energy Law & Policy, and Labor & Employment Law. His research and scholarship focus on a comprehensive scope of energy and energy-related law and policy, as well as the role of law and regulation as they impact business and corporate governance issues. Fershee’s recent articles have appeared in a variety of journals, including the Harvard Journal on Legislation, Energy Law Journal, Connecticut Law Review, and Environmental Law. He received his JD magna cum laude from Tulane Law School, where he was elected Order of the Coif and editor in chief of the Tulane Law Review
