Theatre Arts season opens with Time Stands Still Oct. 11

The University of North Dakota Theatre Arts Department will open the 2011-2012 theatre arts season Oct. 11 with the play Time Stands Still by Donald Marguiles. Time Stands Still tackles the question of whether it\u27s best to follow a career path or to follow your heart. Set against America\u27s current wars, the play deals with the struggles of photojournalist Sarah Goodwin (played by theatre major Emily Hogenson, St. Cloud, Minn.) and reporter James Dodd (played by theatre major Nick McConnell, Grand Forks, N.D.) as they attempt to come to grips with traumatic events they\u27ve suffered while covering the wars. The couple\u27s experiences cause them to reevaluate both the trajectory of their careers and, more importantly, the future of their relationship. Their close friend Richard Ehrlich (played by theatre graduate student Jordon Wolfe, East Grand Forks, Minn.), introduces them to Mandy (played by musical theatre major Daniella Lima, Grand Forks), a charming but much younger woman whose idea of excitement is planning parties. The four characters in Margulies insightful play argue, fight, laugh and challenge each other\u27s core beliefs. The play will run through Oct. 15 at the Burtness Lab Theatre on campus with showings at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
