Granted an Opportunity

The University of North Dakota College of Business & Public Administration’s Beta Alpha Psi honor society becomes one of ten in the nation to win an ethics award. The University of North Dakota College of Business & Public Administration’s (UND CoBPA) Beta Alpha Psi chapter is one of 10 in the world to receive a $1,000 competitive grant related to ethics. According to the Beta Alpha Psi website, The Beta Alpha Psi Ethics Award, “seeks to encourage the members of Beta Alpha Psi and their communities to develop a solid ethical foundation and to empower them to act on these principles no matter the situation faced.” The UND CoBPA Beta Alpha Psi chapter submitted an abstract, which was reviewed by a committee and selected as one of the top ten. In the abstract, the chapter describes their plan to host an Ethics Trivia Night. Through this event, the group hopes to use a fun competitive environment to build upon the many other opportunities that CoBPA students have to develop a strong foundation in ethics. These opportunities include ethics courses, the Olafson Ethics Symposium, and participation in national events including the Eller Ethics Case Competition. The chapter is now moving forward with planning for the Ethics Trivia Night, which will be held at the Gorecki Alumni Center on March 29 from 6:00 to 8:00. After the event, the group will move forward in the competition by submitting a written summary describing outcomes and overall assessment of the project. A maximum of four chapters will receive the final award—which also includes $2,500 reward. Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals. The purpose of Beta Alpha Psi is to recognize outstanding academic achievements in the field of accounting, finance, and information systems. It is intended to promote the study and practice of professional fields related to these disciplines, provide opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing financial professionals while also encouraging a sense of ethical, social and public responsibilities
