Public invited to reception for UND’s new dean of the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines, Gayle Roux, Monday, Sept. 15

The University of North Dakota will hold a special campus and community reception Monday, Sept. 15, for the new dean of the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines, Gayle Roux. The reception will run from 4-6 p.m., in the Gransberg Room of the UND Gorecki Alumni Center. The public is invited. There will be free parking on the south side of the Gorecki Alumni Center. Refreshments also will be served. Roux (pronounced Roo ) was named dean of the UND College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines in August and began her responsibilities earlier this month. Gayle Roux: Roux came to UND from the Texas Woman\u27s University College of Nursing in Denton, where she served for two years as the interim dean. She also served as the associate dean at Loyola University Chicago School of Nursing for five years before joining Texas Woman\u27s University College of Nursing. Roux earned her master\u27s and Ph.D. degrees in nursing from Texas Woman\u27s University and a bachelor\u27s degree in nursing from the University of Nebraska. Roux\u27s research focuses on inner strength in women survivors of chronic health conditions such as breast cancer. She has been published in many high impact research journals in addition to clinical journals. Roux\u27s experiences also include teaching and mentoring graduate students in nurse practitioner and doctoral programs. She was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in 2011 in recognition of her research and practice leadership in women\u27s health
