UND Teaching & Learning student, law faculty member honored with ‘Best Research Paper’ at international conference

University of North Dakota Teaching and Learning Ph.D. student Yee Han Chu, along with the UND School of Law\u27s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Bradley Myers, recently was recognized with the Best Research Paper Award at the Second Annual International Conference on Law, Regulations and Public Policy (LRPP), hosted by the Global Science and Technology Forum (GSTF), in June in Singapore. Chu and Myers received the award for their paper titled Leaving Gifted Students Behind: The Misplaced Public Policy of Deference to Local Officials in the Public Schools of the United States. Myers also was one of the keynote speakers for the conference, which will take place again next year in Bangkok, Thailand On June 9-10. The conference theme examined how the laws of the land lay the foundations of peace and order, and to ensure people progress in all aspects of their lives – whether in business, education, travel, health or recreation. The role of public officials is to create, scrutinize, implement and uphold the laws in order to protect the rights of every individual, corporate entity or institution. The peer review process for award selection was for both quality of written content and presentation of content. Chu\u27s participation in the conference was partially funded by the Intercollegiate Academic Fund administered by the Office of the UND Provost and the College Research Council.
