UND Music Department presents Theodore Presser Scholarly Award to Devils Lake High School graduate

The University of North Dakota, through its Department of Music, has chosen Angela Loff, a UND music performance major and a graduate of Devils Lake High School, as its 2012 Theodore Presser Scholarly Award winner. Loff is a member of the UND Concert Choir and serves as a cantor at her church. She is a past officer of MuSound (Music Students of UND) and has worked on the staff at the International Music Camp near Dunseith, N.D., and the beautiful International Peace Garden. For two consecutive years, she has placed first in her division at the North Dakota Association of Teachers Singing Student Auditions. The Theodore Presser Scholarly Award winner is selected by the president of the University of North Dakota and the chair of the Department of Music. The senior student who receives this honor award is to be known as a Presser Scholar and is selected on the basis of merit and achievement. Theodore Presser is remembered not only as the publisher of Etude, a national magazine dedicated to music, and the founder of the great publishing firm bearing his name, but as a philanthropist who specialized in music education. The Presser Foundation has four primary areas of interest: to provide awards to students of music, to enhance music education and performance, to advance the study and appreciation of music, and to provide financial relief to worthy teachers of music in distress.
