McGinniss Selected as a Fellow of the National Institute for Teaching Ethics and Professionalism

Michael S. McGinniss, Assistant Professor of Law, has been selected from a nationwide pool of legal ethics teachers and scholars as one of ten Fall 2011 Fellows of the National Institute for Teaching Ethics and Professionalism ( NIFTEP ). NIFTEP conducts bi-annual workshops, cosponsored by the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professionalism, that bring together Fellows selected from applications submitted by leading academics and practitioners involved in teaching legal ethics and promoting professionalism. As a NIFTEP Fellow, Professor McGinniss will attend and participate in the Fall 2011 NIFTEP Workshop in Palmetto, Georgia on November 12 and 13, 2011. At the Workshop, he will present a teaching demonstration based upon his 2011 Mart Vogel Lecture on Professionalism and Legal Ethics, entitled Virtue Ethics, Earnestness, and the Deciding Lawyer: Human Flourishing in a Legal Community. On November 14, 2011, he will also attend and participate as a NIFTEP Fellow in the Burge Conference on Law & Ethics, to be held at the Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. NIFTEP is a consortium established in 2005 that presently includes seven nationally-recognized centers on ethics and professionalism: - The Louis Stein Center for Law & Ethics at Fordham University - The Mercer University School of Law Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism - The Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough Center on Professionalism at the University of South Carolina - The Stanford Center on EthicsThe W.
