Reading: Allen Ginsberg

In this audiovisual recording from Friday, March 22, 1974, as part of the 5th Annual UND Writers Conference: “City Lights in North Dakota,” Allen Ginsberg performs music and reads from his work. The reading begins with Ginsberg, Peter Orlovsky, and a few musicians who lead the audience in song and in chanting Tibetan mantras. Ginsberg sings “Bus Ride Ballad Road to Suva” and “Truth Wheel Bone Rap.” He reads “Returning to the Country for a Brief Visit,” “Mind Breaths,” and “Flying Elegy.
