Las franquicias de comercialización como manifestación del circuito superior: el capital, una variable explicativa

Large corporations, belonging to the upper circuit of urban economy, deploy expansion strategies that reconfigure ways of marketing and consumption. They articulate their actions in a banal space made up of actors with different interests, power of imposition and capacities in the use and appropriation of the territory. In the current period, the corporate use of the territory is manifested through the implementation, increasingly notorious, of the franchise system. The particular feature of this system is that it allows the installation of a market of brands that grows independently of the investment of large capitals, once these have gained notoriety in the market. Based on the Theory of Circuits of the Urban Economy (Santos, 1979), we study the characteristics acquired by the variable ‘capital’in the constitution of franchising, based on two indicators: the origin of capital and the relationships between franchisor and franchisee in commercial spaces.Las grandes corporaciones, pertenecientes al circuito superior de la economía urbana, despliegan estrategias de expansión que reconfiguran las formas de comercialización y consumo. Éstas, articulan su accionar en un espacio banal conformado por actores con diferentes intereses, poder de imposición y capacidades en el uso y apropiación del territorio. En el período actual, el uso corporativo del territorio se manifiesta a través de la implementación, cada vez más notoria, del sistema de franquicias. La particularidad de este sistema es que permite la instalación de un mercado de marcas que crece independientemente de la inversión de los grandes capitales, una vez que éstos han ganado notoriedad en el mercado. Sobre la base de la Teoría de los Circuitos de la Economía Urbana (Santos, 1979), se estudian aquí las características que adquiere la variable capital en la constitución del franchising a partir de dos indicadores: el origen del capital y las relaciones entre franquiciante y franquiciado en los espacios comerciales
