Integrating audio and video podcasting into existing E/PO programs

Podcasting presents an oppo1tunity to connect with an audience that is traditionally interested in science yet often disconnected from it, owing to limitations on time. Users can play a passive role in these new technolog ies, which is pe1fect for those living busy lifestyles. At the same time, the affordabi lity and simpl icity of the technologies give astronomers a rare opportunity to share their discove1ies directly with the public, bypass ing many traditional gatekeepe rs. We will give a brief summa1y of the new technologies and offer an integrated approach to including these new technolog ies into existi ng education and public outreach (E/PO) programs using new media
