Research on Institutional Entreprenurship and the Development of Management Theories

This paper argues that the recent researches on institutional entreprenuurship in the field of new organizational institutionalism challenges one of the central themes of management theories. Theories of management are legitimized and institutionalized in our society since they have focused on the relationship between the firms as institutions and their innovations against their embeddedness in the exsisting institutional fields. Through reviewing the legitimacy of the modern corporations, and the development of practices and theories of accounting and management, I insist that the theories of management have been the studies of the dynamics of institutions and practices, then management theories are legitimatized through studying the institutional entreprenurship. It is closely related to the legitimacy of management theories
