Jessie Mae Casey is interviewed by Lorraine Crittenden on September 10, 1986 as a part of the Western North Carolina Tomorrow Black Oral History Project. Casey recounts stories from her grandmother from when she was enslaved in the Savannah area, including how she learned that she was free.
