The tinikling dance is a traditional Philippine folk dance that depicts the movements of the long-legged and long-necked bird "tikling". As dancers prance around, two dancers sitting on the floor manipulate two long bamboo poles trying to trap their legs. Members from left to right inlcude pole strikers Tim Brinkley and Judy Pittman, and dancers Melinda Buchanan and Johnny Tate. Founder and director of the Mountain Youth Jamboree, Hubert H. Hayes (1901-1964) auditioned and directed youth to perform in folk dance, music, and folk and ballad singing.
