This photograph of a beech tree was taken between Hangover and Stratton Bald. The picture was made by Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth (1890-1974), an avid photographer and one of the founders of the hiking club. The back of the photograph is stamped “Jim Thompson Co. Knoxville Master Photo Finishers,” indicating it was probably printed by hiking club member James E. (Jim) Thompson (1880-1976)
