The John C. Campbell Folk School sent a group of woodcarvers to demonstrate at the early Craftsman's Fairs of the Southern Highlands. A. Ben Hall, an early Brasstown Carver, sits at one end of the table, while carving instructor, Murrial G. Martin, also known as Murray Martin, works at the other. At far left, Willie Smith, another carving demonstrator, sits at his table. The photograph was taken by an unknown photographer at the 1949 Craftsman's Fair of the Southern Highlands in Gatlinburg, Tennessee
