Coverlet and the Little Lady

This article describes Frances Goodrich's efforts to revive weaving in western North Carolina and the creation of Allanstand Cottage Industries. The article was written by Annie Creelman and published in the August 1923 issue of "Social Progress." Although Goodrich is not identified except as "the little lady," this is clearly her story. The article gives a brief biblical and historical background on weaving, describes the inspiring gift of the double bow knot coverlet to Goodrich, Goodrich's efforts to revive traditional dying and weaving, and the subsequent creation of Allanstand Cottage Industries.
