I would like to call at te11 bon to five of these problems that it seems to 111e are very real, and that unless they are recognized and a rea onable start made to·ward their solution.~ we face till n1ore troubles on1e times. 1. Regulate t he credit system, the balancing of our income and outgo. As individuals, as families, as com-anies and as nations. lt is both an individual and in­terna tiona 1 problen1 t hat ·we learn to regulate credit because much of our life is lived on a credit basis. Lack of it ha perhaps been one of the major contribu­t ory facto1·s to our distress of the last few years. I ' think the great tl~o uble is that people do not under-stand credit and its use. 2. Confining industry to needed production. Not that that s hould probably be brought about through the shl'inkage of t he earning power of people, or through costly elimination, but that it should be brought about through an intimate kno\vledge of what people need, ho"r much they need, who is to supply it, and then being reasonable enough to keep that pro­duction "ithin the necessary lines of consumptjon. It js one of those pl'oblems that unle s \Ve face it \Ve are headed into difficulties. 3. Elimination of excessive speculation. ~1r.
