This paper describes an application of two simulation tools in relation to one of the larger transformations areas in the Turin metropolitan area. What is the role of today’s simulation models in urban and regional planning is a rather controversial topic. The objective of this essay is to describe two applications of simulation tools in relation to different scale of urban issues and their aptness for one of the most crucial development of Turin (named “Variante 200”).
