The article presents and analyses a quite obscure case of those experimentations bounding architecture and structural form that so praised were in the mid-IX Century, namely the Church of Longuelo, designed by Pino Pizzigoni - an outstanding but quite obscure work. The first part of the paper describes the personality of the architect, showing his experience with concrete shells. The second part is about the project, both from the architectural and the structural point of view. The third one analyses the structural behaviour of the church, which may be seen as a hybrid building, as the guesses by Pizzigoni were quite confused - experimental in its truest sense.
