The present paper deals with a theoretical and experimental analysis involving the load distribution on the teeth of spline couplings. In particular, on the basis of analytical references available in literature, an iteration procedure has been developed to determine both radial and axial contact pressure distribution in spline couplings. In the present work the influence of torsional stiffness of the teeth and polar moments of inertia of shaft and hub sections has been analyzed. Crossing and non crossing torques have been considered. The theoretical results have been compared to the corresponding obtained by means of a dedicated experimental activity
