With the fall of Ceausescu in 1989, Romania returned once again to Europe. In this process of rebirth, Bucharest has become the political, economic and cultural nerve centre of the country. But under what conditions does the city begin its new path? Acknowledging both the aberrations and the values of the growing city during the socialist period, this book guides the reader through the discovery of the many facets of Bucharest that were wiped out with the Popular Republic coming in 1948.
