The operation of Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) is generally described in terms of plane waves reflection/transmission coefficients. Although this characterization is completely general, further heavy elaboration is needed to predict the response of the FSS to an actual feed field. Considering that gaussian beam can be good models for directive sources, we have computed the response of an FSS to such excitation. The scattered geams can be still represented in terms of gaussian beams, at least in the neighbourhood of theie radiation maxima. The beam characteristics, such as squint angle, beam aperture angles and phase center locations have been determined in the basis of the principal polarizations of the FSS
