The adequacy of glue as jointing material in timber construction in timber construction is examined when inherent uncertainties in the basic design variables are quantitatively considered . The evaluation procedure includes the characterization of the probability distribution function of the glued joint strength based on test results. Employing the Mean First-Order Reliability Method (MFORM ), failure probability levels of glued joints in a typical roof truss are estimated . The results obtained show that the failure of a glued joint largely depends on the variability in the grade stress, the angle at which a member is loaded as well as the member dimension.
