We questioned how BGSU celebrated the anniversaries of the acceptance of Title IX. In 1972, Title IX was passed, prohibiting sexual discrimination in any educational program or activity that receives federal financial aid. It was created to help eliminate gender discrimination in the educational and athletic system. In the archive, we found folders filled with information and images of the anniversaries of the passing of Title IX and were pleased to focus on the celebration. Title IX positively affected the people of BGSU, creating a more balanced playing field for all. We chose to narrow our scope of research to the 2005 and 2007 anniversary celebration.
