Tanglehead (Heteropogon contortus) is a perennial bunchgrass found native throughout the world. South Texas tanglehead populations have exploded within the past 15 years, taking on invasive characteristics and leaving managers searching for management implications. I conducted two greenhouse studies to examine tanglehead seedling and plant development, and evaluated seedling competition between tanglehead and other native grasses. One study compared tanglehead germination and growth with and without litter on top of the mineral soil to evaluate potential affects that fire may have on a tanglehead affected area.
