Biologic influence of deuterium (D) on cells of various taxonomic groups of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms realizing methylotrophic, chemoheterotrophic, photo-organotrophic, and photosynthetic ways of assimilation of carbon substrates was investigated at cellular growth on media with maximal content of heavy water (D2?). For this aim the method of step by step adaptation technique of cells to D2? was developed, consisting in plating of cells on 2 % (w/v) agarose nutrient media containing increasing gradient of concentration of D2?
