This paper reviewed work and the progress made so far with the megacity project of the Lagos state government with specialemphasis of the role of Geographic Information Systems and its application to the project. The milestones made as well asthe challenges ahead for the project are identified. The Our review showed that the project is still a work-in-progress and agreat deal of planning is required if Lagos State, Nigeria is to attain a world class mega-city status.
