Choosing a name for someone is not easy task. It depends on different factors and circumstances. Various illustrations and justifications are given by parents to explain the reasons of choosing the given names for their sons and daughters. Some of these reasons relate to the language that is used in the society. Other reasons emerge from the several interactions between the person and his society and the person with this world. This research studies the etymology of names in Jordan. Names that were chosen to Jordanian people in the last four decades.
