Background: Overweight in Africa have been attributed to demographic and nutritional changes that have resulted from urbanization, sedentary lifestyles and increased caloric intake without much physical activities. This has put populations at an increased risk of chronic diseases. The purpose of the present study was to assess determinants of overweight among government employees. Methods: A case control study was conducted among government employees in Gibe district. A total of 206 employees (51 cases and 155controls) were selected by using simple random sampling technique.
