Entrepreneurship plays an important role in the growth of any society. India is a vast country with an estimated population of more than 1.25 billion of which nearly half are women. Entrepreneurship amongst women in India is relatively a recent phenomenon. Since 1975 the international year of women, various programmes are being conducted in order to improve the status of women. A multitude of institutions have been set up in the private as well as in public sector for the development of women.
