Two-thirds of people with schizophrenia are unable to fulfill basic social roles, such as spouse, parent, and worker, even when in a state of remission of psychotic symptoms. Many factors affect personal and social functioning in schizophrenic patients and accurate assessment of functional status is important in evaluating the need for treatment and seek a successful outcome.
