This paper examines accountability and control in budgeting system in Nigeria with emphasis being laid on the general principles that guide the process of making up a budget. In Nigeria, the budgetary process starts with the executive arm of government which initiates the idea with identification of goals and objectives that government seeks to attain with a specified period and in accordance with its overall socio-economic policy.
