Los inicios de la práctica deportiva en el Chiapas revolucionario (1910-1940)

One of the commonplaces of historiographic rhetoric about contemporary Chiapas is that the Mexican Revolution missed that State of the Republic; or, if it did not, came there late. Consequently, little attention has been paid thus far to certain discourses related to sports, recently introduced in early 20th-century Mexico. On the one hand, physical exercise was praised as a way to fully achieve a better human being and, thereby, a new citizen for the new republic intended after the war; on the other hand, sports were presented as an antidote against practices deemed little compatible with the civilizing process that the Revolution was supposed to generate.Una de las retóricas historiográficas más comunes con respecto al Chiapas contemporáneo es que la Revolución Mexicana no llegó a ese Estado de la República; o, si lo hizo, fue tarde. Poco interés han despertado hasta el momento ciertos discursos relacionados con la práctica deportiva, incipiente en el México de comienzos del siglo XX. Por una parte proponían el ejercicio físico como una forma de mejoramiento integral del ser humano, y también del nuevo ciudadano que se pretendía construir tras la conflagración bélica; mientras que, por otra, eran un antídoto a prácticas poco acordes con el proyecto civilizatorio que la Revolución proponía
