NÍVEL DE ATIVIDADE FÍSICA E TABAGISMO

Smoking is a worldwide public health problem that generates a great deal of government spending on treating diseases caused by it and can be considered the leading cause of preventable death worldwide. Several degenerative chronic diseases are related that associated with sedentary lifestyle cause several damages to smokers. In contrast, the practice of regular exercise can promote changes in healthy eating patterns, control in the use of cigarettes and alcohol. Thus, the objective of this study was to identify the profile of smokers as well as the relationship between the adoption of regular practice of physical activities and smoking cessation. This is a bibliographic review. Books, scientific articles and periodicals related to the theme were used. Through the researched studies it was possible to identify that in Brazil the proportion of men who smoke is higher in all age groups when compared to women. The age group with the highest prevalence of smokers is from 20 to 49 years and there is also a significant increase in tobacco use in younger age groups and physical activity can be a strong ally in tobacco control and, consequently, associated diseases.O tabagismo é um problema mundial de saúde pública que gera muitos gastos para o governo com tratamento de doenças causadas por ele, podendo ser considerado a principal causa de morte evitável em todo o mundo. Estão relacionadas diversas doenças crônicas degenerativas que associadas ao sedentarismo causam diversos prejuízos a indivíduos fumantes. Em contrapartida, o hábito de praticar regularmente exercícios físicos pode promover alterações nos padrões de alimentação saudável, controle no uso de cigarros e bebidas alcóolicas. Desta forma o objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar o perfil de indivíduos fumantes assim como a relação entre a adoção da prática regular de atividades físicas e a cessação do tabagismo. Esta é uma revisão bibliográfica. Utilizou-se livros, artigos científicos e periódicos relacionados ao tema. Através dos estudos pesquisados foi possível identificar que no Brasil a proporção de homens que fumam é maior em todas as faixas etárias quando comparado às mulheres. A faixa etária com maior prevalência de fumantes é dos 20 aos 49 anos e observa-se também aumento significativo do uso de tabaco nas faixas etárias mais jovens e a atividade física pode ser um forte aliado no controle do tabagismo e consequentemente das doenças associadas
