Oral history interview with Donita Stobaugh Gross, 2008 Aug. 15

Gross talks about growing up in Indiana, graduation from Ball State University, BS Music Education 1950, and then MA Ball State in Guidance & Counseling. Prior to appointment at Purdue taught music in elementary and junior high school and service as Acting Director of Womens Housing Ball State University from 1959 1960. She first was in the Dean of Womens Office [now Dean of Students] where was responsible for women placement. In July 1966 became Assistant Director of the Placement Office [now known as Center for Career Opportunities].Gross talks about responsibilities, challenges, interaction with students and employers the interviewing process, job fairs. During this time men and women placement was combined in the Universitys Placement Office. She was an advisor for four student organizations. A view of campus life including Chauncey Village is talked about. Gross left Purdue to accept a position with Kimberly Clark in Wisconsin. Now retired, divides time between Wisconsin and Arizona
