Análisis del gasto público en las fuerzas militares y de policía para un escenario de posconflicto en Colombia (1997-2016)

In the present work we develop a description and analysis of public spending in the military and police forces in the last two decades, to identify how, through history and nowadays, public spending on military and police forces has affected in the armed conflict and in the beginning of the post-conflict, and how this affects the economic growth of Colombia.A descriptive statistic was chosen; based on data obtained from institutions such as Sipri and the world bank. For the analysis the antecedents of the conflict are taken, three presidential periods like; that of President Pastrana, Uribe, and Santos, who were key in the change of policy and organization of military spending, as well as in the development of the entire peace agreement that highlights the termination of the armed conflict in Colombia, creating Likewise, the new challenges assumed by institutions.As a frame of reference, in the last chapter, international experiences are taken from countries such as Peru and Guatemala, observing the economic behavior through the variation of GDP and the destination of the item to military spending; to identify how the economic growth of the countries in question was affected or not, comparing situations presented with those that are lived in Colombia. Finally, we suggest some challenges and contrasts according to the historical and theoretical reference that our country must have in order to obtain a positive result in a post-conflict stag
