Características del diagnóstico prenatal de las malformaciones congénitas en gestantes del Municipio de Ranchuelo

An observational, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted with the aim of characterizing the results of the prenatal diagnosis of congenital malformations in pregnant women from the municipality of Ranchuelo, in 2007-2010. The sample was composed of the 27 pregnant women whose fetuses were diagnosed with congenital malformations. A questionnaire was made to collect information related to the sonographic findings detected on the prenatal ultrasound. The autopsy book in the Department of Pathology of the maternity hospital was reviewed, as well as the records of birth defects in the Provincial Center of Genetics. The results showed that 66.7% of pregnant women with fetuses with congenital abnormalities belonged to Ranchuelo health area. The central nervous system was the most affected one (55.6%). The age group from 19 to 34 years of age showed an increased number of malformations (62.2%) and in pregnant women between 21-24 weeks. There was complete coincidence between ultrasonographic diagnosis and autopsy findings in 76.5% of cases. Further research on congenital malformations in pregnancy is recommended.Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo con el objetivo de caracterizar los resultados del diagnóstico prenatal de las malformaciones congénitas en gestantes pertenecientes al Municipio de Ranchuelo en el período 2007-2010. La muestra quedó constituida por las 27 gestantes a cuyos fetos se les diagnosticaron malformaciones congénitas. Se confeccionó un formulario para la recogida de la información relacionada con los hallazgos sonográficos detectados en el ultrasonido prenatal y se revisó el libro de necropsia en el Departamento de Anatomía Patológica del Hospital Universitario Gineco-obstétrico “Mariana Grajales”, así como los registros de malformaciones congénitas en el Centro Provincial de Genética. Los resultados demuestran que el 66.7% de las embarazadas con fetos que presentaban anomalías congénitas pertenecían al área de salud de Ranchuelo, el sistema nervioso central resultó el más afectado (55.6%), se observó un mayor número de malformaciones en el grupo etário de 19-34 años (62.2%) y en gestantes que tenían entre 21-24 semanas y en el 76.5% de los casos hubo coincidencia total entre el diagnóstico ecográfico y los hallazgos necrópsicos. Se recomienda profundizar en la pesquisa de malformaciones congénitas en el embarazo
