Intervención educativa sobre ITS/VIH/SIDA en adolescentes femeninas

An intervention study with quasi-experimental design was carried out, and within it, a pre-test and a post-test. It was aimed at increasing the level of knowledge on sexually transmitted infections, human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome in female adolescents of the Medical Consulting Room number 44-2 of the Martha Abreu Estévez Teaching University Polyclinic in Santa Clara city, Villa Clara province, during the period from January to December, 2007. The universe of study was formed by 93 adolescents between 12 and 19 years of age who belong to the above mentioned consulting room. An intentional sample of 51 female adolescents, who were ready to take part in the study, was taken with authorization of their parents. A questionnaire was devised for the gathering of information. It allowed knowing the level of knowledge the adolescents had. A scale aimed at obtaining an integral qualitative evaluation was designed. The investigation was carried out in three stages; the first one corresponded with the implementation of the pre-test, which showed an insufficient level of knowledge in the adolescents. The educational intervention was implemented on the base of the results obtained, and it constituted the second stage. In the third stage a post-test was carried out. It allowed evaluating the effectiveness of the actions of the intervention and showed that an adequate level of knowledge had been achieved. It can be concluded that the educational intervention designed increased the knowledge of the adolescents, thus, demonstrating the effectiveness of the educational program. It is recommended, starting from this study, its deepening, so that new horizons are opened in the investigative field.Se realizó un estudio de intervención con diseño cuasi-experimental y, dentro de éste, los de pretest y postest con el objetivo de incrementar el nivel de conocimiento sobre infecciones de transmisión sexual/virus de la immunodeficiencia humana/síndrome de inmunodeficiencia adquirida en adolescentes femeninas del Consultorio Médico 44-2 del Policlínico Universitario “Martha Abreu Estévez”, de la Ciudad de Santa Clara, Provincia Villa Clara, en el período comprendido de enero a diciembre de 2007. El universo de estudio estuvo conformado por 93 adolescentes con edades entre 12 y 19 años dispensarizadas en el consultorio de referencia; se tomó una muestra intencional de 51 adolescentes del sexo femenino dispuestas a participar en el estudio y con autorización de los padres. Para la recogida de la información se confeccionó un cuestionario que permitió conocer el nivel de conocimiento que tenían las adolescentes y se diseñó una escala que permitió dar una evaluación integral cualitativa. La investigación se desarrolló en tres etapas: la primera correspondió a la aplicación del pretest, que mostró un nivel de conocimiento no adecuado en las adolescentes; basado en los resultados obtenidos se implementó la intervención educativa, que constituyó la segunda etapa; en la tercera etapa se realizó un postest que permitió evaluar la efectividad de las acciones de intervención -se logró un nivel de conocimiento adecuado-. Se concluyó que la intervención educativa diseñada elevó los conocimientos de las adolescentes, lo que evidencia la efectividad del programa educativo. Se recomienda, a partir del presente estudio, la profundización del mismo para que se abran nuevos horizontes en el campo investigativo
