Aspectos geológicos y su vulnerabilidad ante el comportamiento humano

Geology is a natural science with astronomy, geography, biology and botany and therefore has much to do with the environment in which we live. The geological events that could pose potential threats to society are characterized by their unpredictability and their lethal consequences, but more dangerous is that there is a lack of awareness on these types of risks. This work is aimed at promoting an awareness of geological features that contribute to the rational use of natural resources and to improve the quality of life of Cuban medical students and teachers. It is also aimed at contributing to the knowledge and management of geological aspects and their vulnerability to human behavior and reflecting on the implementation of measures affecting one way or another the improvement of the environment. It also includes measures to prevent and mitigate the negative effects. We must know the sources of vulnerability to act consistently on them and reduce their negative effects.La Geología es una ciencia natural junto a la Astronomía, la Geografía, la Biología y la Botánica y, en consecuencia, tiene mucho que ver con el medio ambiente en que vivimos. Los eventos geológicos que pudieran representar amenazas potenciales para la sociedad se caracterizan por su impredictibilidad y por sus consecuencias letales, pero lo más peligroso es el desconocimento que existe sobre estos tipos de riesgos. Con el presente trabajo se pretende promover una cultura de aspectos geológicos que contribuya al aprovechamiento racional de recursos naturales y al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de estudiantes y profesores de salud cubanos, contribuir al conocimiento y al manejo de los aspectos geológicos y su vulnerabilidad ante el comportamiento humano y reflexionar sobre el cumplimiento de medidas que incidan de una forma u otra en el mejoramiento del medio ambiente; incluye además acciones para prevenir y mitigar los efectos negativos. Hay que aprender y conocer las fuentes de vulnerabilidad para actuar sistemáticamente sobre ellas y reducir sus efectos negativos
