Prophets are those people who speak up against injustice and call for social change. This paper examines the Prophets Hosea, Amos, and Jonah from the 8th Century BC and how they speak out against corruption in their time period. They argue for an end to misfortunes and injustices. It will also argue that Martin Luther King Jr. is a modern prophet. In his “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” King calls for an end of the suppres- sion of civil and natural rights. King asserts that, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere.” This is the calling of prophets to speak up for those that may not be able to speak up for themselves. With their help, tomorrow holds a brighter future for everyone
