While the American Education System has been under scrutiny for years, Common Core was implemented in 2002. Critics of the system complain that it does not prepare students for college and disregards non-STEM classes such as art and history. The No Child Left Behind policy in particular is beneficial for the students struggling to keep up with their classmates but is detrimental to the students who have the potential to move ahead. The United Nations Quality Education Sustainability Goal strives to provide high-quality education to everyone, and the No Child Left Behind Policy counteracts this goal.
