Comparison of the MMPI-2 Clinical Scales and the MMPI-2-Rf Restructured Clinical (Rc) Scales in a Military Law Enforcement Sample

This study evaluated the validity of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2- Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) Restructured Clinical (RC) Scales in a sample of 180 military law enforcement recruits. The RC Scales were compared to the MMPI-2 Clinical Scales to evaluate intercorrelations, saturation with a demoralization factor, and for convergent validity using the NEO Personality Inventory Revised (NEO-PI-R) as criteria. Previous research found that the RC scales demonstrate reduced intercorrelations (with the exception of RC9), reduced saturation with demoralization, and increased convergent validity with a number of established criteria; however, the results of the current study were mixed. Most RC scales demonstrated reduced intercorrelations--with the exception of RC3 and RC6—and increased saturation with demoralization.
