The stories which comprise this collection will not, in all likelihood, be viewed as conventional. They often deviate from a standard fictional methods, and at times they depart from traditional grammar and punctuation. Their various forms, however, do not represent an attempt to escape from the story-telling process. Rather, they represent an attempt to catch the rhythm, cadence, and articulacy of the spiritual voice. In addition, these stories are, collectively, an attempt to reflect the passage of time in a small Ozark community
