The story now known as Alice\u27s Adventures in Wonderland has been illustrated by dozens of artists rendering the story through their interpretation of the words of the text, the views of earlier illustrators, and their own unique artistic visions. This thesis focuses on three of those artists: Lewis Carroll (also the author of the text), Sir John Tenniel, and Arthur Rackham. Through comparison with the words of the text and attention to artistic detail, this thesis examines the vision each of these three artists had of the story and, in the cases of Tenniel and Rackham, the influences upon them by the artists whose work came before
